This week, the Trump istration announced it arrested almost five hundred people across the country for immigration violations, focusing on areas that don't cooperate with immigration officers.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement said it targeted individuals who have violated U.S. immigration laws and prioritized those with criminal records.
Ten percent of those arrested nationwide were in Massachusetts.
Rose Bookbinder is an organizer with the Pioneer Valley Workers Center.
"Since Monday, we've received around ten phone calls on our emergency response hotline with people that have been detained from Greenfield, Holyoke, and Springfield," she said.
While NEPR was interviewing Bookbinder, she had to take another call.
A woman reported her husband had just been detained in Greenfield. The immigration agency declined to confirm whether arrests took place in western Massachusetts.
