Three Republicans vying for their party's nomination to challenge Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren are sharply criticizing the Democratic incumbent while offering varying degrees of for President Donald Trump.
State Rep. Geoff Diehl, business executive John Kingston, and former state Secretary of Consumer Affairs Beth Lindstrom met in their first three-way debate Tuesday on Boston Herald Radio.
The winner of the September 4 primary will face Warren, who is among many Democrats drawing speculation over a possible 2020 presidential bid.
Diehl, who was co-chair of Trump's 2016 Massachusetts campaign, remains solidly behind the president despite polls suggesting Trump is deeply unpopular in the state.
Lindstrom accused Diehl of "blind loyalty" to Trump, and both she and Kingston suggested they would be in a better position to challenge Warren in the November election.
